Principal's Message

Dear Colleagues and Community Members,

Referred to as the “crown jewel of the Fremont Union High School District,” Fremont High School is an impressive school that has an environment that is both academically challenging and culturally enriching. We are proud of the spirit of inclusiveness, and collaboration that abounds throughout the campus. Our students are especially generous in volunteering their time and have consistently earned the most community service medals within the Fremont Union High School District. FHS serves all students from those who graduate and attend some of the most competitive colleges and universities in the country as well as students who struggle academically. Our students are some of our biggest cheerleaders and have shared:

Perhaps the best way to illustrate how students feel about Fremont is to report the results of a survey given in the Fall of 2015 to all students at Fremont, Cupertino, Homestead, Lynbrook, and Monta Vista High Schools. The survey was intended to measure student satisfaction with their school’s academics, teachers’ expectations, guidance systems, opportunities for student involvement, and a student self-assessment.

Although there was a high degree of satisfaction towards each of the five high schools, we were particularly encouraged by the responses from the Fremont students. Of the 37 questions that measured student’s attitudes toward their school, teachers, the level of support and acceptance, and the degree of high expectations, Fremont ranked the highest in nearly 80% of the questions. Some of the responses are especially noteworthy:

  • 91% of FHS students strongly agree or agree that teachers expect me to be successful
  • 88% of FHS students strongly agree or agree that school is a welcoming place
  • 83% strongly agree or agree that they feel valued and respected by adults on this campus
  • 83% strongly agree or agree that teachers help me when I don’t understand something from class or homework
  • 80% strongly agree or agree that Fremont provides the help I need to learn about a variety of programs and/or colleges I might go to after high school
