Fremont High Athlete of the Week

March 13th - 17th

Kevin Brahney

Kevin Brahney had a great game against Monta Vista on March 9th.  He hit a home run and pitched a tremendous game in the 5 – 3 win for the Firebirds.


March 20th - 24th

Larry Wen

Larry Wen had an amazing performance at the swim meet on March 17th.   This talented swimmer has been a CCS contender for several years. 


April 3rd - 7th

Tina Nguyen

Tina Nguyen (12) was selected for her awesome performance at the badminton game on April 4th.  Tina has been on the varsity team all four years and has an outstanding number of wins.  Her teammates admire her for her sportsmanship and natural talent.

April 10th - 14th

Mike Bergeron

Mike Bergeron (11) was selected for his great performance in the golf match against Los Altos.  Mike had 1 par and 2 birdies and defeated his Falcon opponent.  Good job, Mike!


May 1st - 5th

Elijah Carrillo

Elijah Carrillo (11) had an outstanding performance at the track meet on Thursday, May 4.  He placed 2nd in the mile, 3rd in the 800m and 2nd with the 4 x 400m relay team.  Elijah, one of the team captains, is a CCS qualifier in all 3 events, an awesome accomplishment for a junior.

Alicia Tikalsky

Alicia Tikalsky, outside hitter, played a key role in the Lady Firebirds’ Volleyball season.  She let the team in kills, including pounding out 12 in the Senior Night victory over Wilcox.

 

Nov. 13 - 17

Elijah Carrillo

All season long,  Elijah Carrillo has been Fremont’s most consistent runner, earning several top 10 finishes.  He finished the season at the CCS meet in Salinas, earning 22nd place out of 200 competitors.

Kristal Sana

Kristal, a senior, has played Fremont basketball for 4 years, 3 years on varsity.  Her recognition is for her involvement in sports, academics and other school activities.  She enjoys representing Fremont High School!

Mark Scandalis

Mark, a senior, has been wrestling for Fremont for 4 years.  He has put a lot of time and effort into representing our school.  The school would like to recognize his 4 pinned opponent defeat at the Overfelt Clasic.  Congratulations, Mark!

Jeremy is a senior who plays basketball.  He has played on varsity for 2 years and helps lead his team.  “He becomes the leader during the 4th quarter and encourages teammates.  He’s the ‘daddy’ of the team,” says teammate Benny Evien.

Isabelle is a senior who plays soccer and is recognized by her coach.  “Isabelle stepped up to play goalie when we did not have one and has led our team to the most successful season in over 10 years,” says Coach Neubauer.  Her effort is the perfect example of Fremont’s dedication.

Rob, a junior, is a pitcher on the varsity baseball team.  He pitched a complete game against Palo Alto and came out with a win.  He is a hardworking player and shows much dedication to the sport.

Sam is a senior softball player.  Against Monta Vista, she hit a grand slam that won the game, 4 – 3.  Not only does she succeed in sports, she is also involved in Fremont’s ASB.

Nadra Son

Nate is a setter on the volleyball team.  As a senior, he has stepped up to take charge and lead the team.  He demonstrates a positive attitude and support for his teammates.

Brittany Van Schavendijk

Brittany is our first Junior Varsity and sophomore Athlete of the Week.  Thus far this season, she has earned the 2nd highest number of point for the girls’ track meets.  She is known for her outstanding work effort.

Vladimir Kozyrev

Vladimir swims on the varsity swim team.  He has recorded great swim records and adds to the relay teams.  He was also a water polo player in the fall.  He demonstrates great dedication as a polo player and swimmer.

Scott Zhang

Scott has been the leader of his golf team.  He has medaled in 2 of his 4 golf matches and had the best score against Gunn and Homestead.

Elijah Carrillo

Elijah is the first athlete that is recognized as Athlete of the Week 2 consecutive years.  He has fantastic speed and endurance.  Elijah is closing his senior year ranked 5th in CCS in the 800 meters this adds to his memorable 4 years at Fremont.
