Located in the heart of Silicon Valley's high tech industries in Santa Clara Valley, Sunnyvale's Fremont high School enjoys the advantages of an attractive urban setting, a diverse population, metropolitan cultural opportunities, and a dynamic high-technology industrial foundation.
Fremont High School opened its doors to students in 1923 and has expanded over the years to presently serve a student population of 1900. Fremont is known as the flagship school of the Fremont Union High School district, which supports five high schools and an Adult Education program.
Students at Fremont reflect varied backgrounds and experiences and range from affluent to the economically disadvantaged. Fremont is ethnically diverse, comprise of approximately 35% Latino, 29% Caucasian, 16% Asian, 14% Filipino, and 4% African-American. Roughly 28% of the population is described as English Learners, and 10% of the student body are enrolled in Special Education courses.
