Fremont's Joe Johnson makes CCS Wrestling Final

Joe Johnson won by pin in 5:55 over Gunn's Stefan Weidemann in the CCS semifinals today moving him forward to the CCS final match. The CCS finals will be held this afternoon, February 20, at 7 pm in San Jose at Independence High School. Fremont is currently 9th in the team standings and they have three other wrestlers working for a bid to the state tournament. Casey Johnson, Felix Lugo, and Hector Cristobal are all wrestling for 5th place match. This top ten CCS finish for the Fremont Wrestling team marks their best finish since 2006 when the team took 2nd in CCS and 3rd in the State. Joe Johnson is the first CCS Wrestling Finalist since 2007 when Boris Novachkov won the CCS tournament. Joe also was the outstanding wrestler at the SCVAL tournament where Fremont finished second as a team.
