Wrestling Summer Camps

At Fremont High School we don't have a wrestling team, we have a wrestling program, steeped in a tradition of excellence students that have a will to be successful are capable of exceeding their potential with the guidance of our staff. One of the things that our coaching staff recommends to anyone who has a desire to excel to the highest levels of our sport is year round wrestling. After the high school season we have Sunnyvale Wrestling Club so that our wrestlers can join with other wrestlers from local schools to compete in the Freestyle and Greco seasons. As the Freestyle and Greco seasons come to an end we recommend hitting at least one wrestling summer camp. This year we have two camps that we will be encouraging all of our wrestlers to attend and then a plethora of others that we recommend. First, as we did last year, we will be taking our team to the Bakersfield Team camp. The Bakersfield team camp can be accessed on the right side of our team page. Please fill out the application and turn it in to coach McCune. Also, like last year the first ten wrestlers who sign up with receive a huge discount. Instead of $380, the team will pay $200, so your camp cost will be $180. So get that paperwork in ASAP because we can only guarantee the first 10 wrestlers will get the discount. Second, we have been lucky to have a solid club pop up near us at Monta Vista and we have worked out a deal for our wrestlers to attend their commuter camp, which is being held at Monta Vista on June 12th - June 15th. Please let coach McCune know if your interested. The cost will be $100 or less depending on the number of kids interested. Lastly, we have attached a couple of camp links on the wrestling main page. Coach McCune and his family work at the West Coat Wrestling Camps every year in Carlsbad, CA and it is highly recommended that you attend that camp if possible. Please inform coach McCune if you have a financial issue and he will look into possible scholarships. Troy Ibanez, this years wrestler with the most pins, attended the intensive West Coast Wrestler Camp last year. Also listed on the right hand side of the page is the Eternal Warrior camp in Montana. This is the toughest camp in the country and is highly recommended. If you have any questions about this information please talk to Coach McCune.
