Come see ‘RUMORS OF POLAR BEARS’ in the Shannon Theatre this Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 pm. Part drama, part comedy, ‘RUMORS OF POLAR BEARS’ tells the story of a group of teenagers who live in a dystopian future that has run out of water, oil and government. This ragtag bunch finds their way north, looking for polar bears, hoping that there’s part of the world that hasn’t been destroyed yet. The Fremont High School Production is the west coast premiere of this play. The author will be in attendance, and we will hold a question and answer session after the show on Friday. All seats are $5, and will be available at the door. (B. Houck)

Are you a 9th or 10th grader whose goal to go to college, but don’t know how to get there on your own? Looking for a class that will both support and challenge you in that quest? Come learn more about the AVID program on Tuesday, February 10, at lunch in Room 87. Bring your questions, and see if the program might be right for you. Final applications will be due on March 3. (J. Kakes)

Fremont Science Lecture will take place on Wednesday, January 28th. The event starts at 6:00 pm in the small auditorium and ends at roughly 7:00. Refreshments will be provided. Thank you all for your continued interest in Dr. Helm's "Evolution of Beauty" lecture, and we look forward to seeing you on the 28th (next Wednesday).

Recycling collection will be on Wednesdays.  Rooms 1 and 6 students will collect recycling this coming Wednesday during 4th block, beginning at 9:30.  Recycle bins will need to be placed outside classrooms by 9:30, and I will send a reminder Wednesday morning.

For those of you new to Fremont this year, students from ACT classes have been collecting recycling for several years.  We collect both paper and bottles/cans.  Bottles/cans (drinks only; no dairy) are taken to the recycle plant by Carlos and friends.  Proceeds go to FHS flower/tulip fund. 25% is retained for student/classroom needs.  Every classroom should have separate bins for paper and bottles/cans.  If not, please let us know. (B. Cooter)
