There will be a special schedule on Wednesday, March 4th due to a school visit by a group from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).  The schedule is posted on the school website and in School Loop News. Please note that 4th block begins at 7:35 am on March 4th, even though it is a Wednesday. The schedule has been flipped to move the collaboration period to the afternoon.  6th block, the last class of the day, ends at 1:44 pm. This schedule change gives time in the afternoon for the visiting team to share their findings with our school staff and community. Be sure to show your Firebird pride to our visitors, Fremont!

Congratulations to freshman Alexander Javorski, winner of the gold medal for épée fencing at the regional young circuit competition. He is officially first in region 4, which covers 6 states. We wish you the best at U.S. Nationals in July, Alexander!

Have you ever moved to a completely new place? Do you have something to say about that experience? If so, you could win a cash prize in the Silicon Valley Reads essay contest.  The grand prize is $500.  Information about the contest is available at the main desk in the library.  You can also come to the Page Turner Book Club meeting this Friday in the library conference room to hear more about the contest and rules.  Essays are due on Monday, March 16. Hello Fremont Supporters! Have old and unused electronic items that need recycling? Come and donate those old electronics at our annual E-Waste collection and fundraiser event for the FHS Band program. We are collecting electronics from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm Saturday, February 28 in the back parking lot on Fremont Ave. Clean out those garages and closets! Are you interested in Dance? Want to perform with the Marching Band? Want to Dance and throw cool equipment into the air? Then Consider joining the Fremont Color Guard. We will be hosting a FREE clinic this Saturday, February 28 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm in the Large Gym. This is open to all current 9th through 11th graders. Come check us out! (J. Kelly)


Thinking about taking an AP class next year?  Now’s the time to check them out.  Today, at lunch, you can learn about AP US History in the small auditorium.  On Monday, AP World Language teachers will be presenting information for Spanish in room 21, French in room 20, Chinese in room 7, and Japanese in room 22.  A complete schedule of AP Informational Sessions can be found on the FHS Homepage.  (J. Congratulations CCS, the girls Varsity soccer team In their first round of they took on a quick, physical, and organized Salinas squad. The Firebirds played with a lot of intensity and matched their opponent's physicality. It was a hard fought game, but the Firebirds suffered a tough loss. Congratulations on a great season, finishing 2nd in league and earning their first CCS birth for as long as most can remember. Though they will miss Seniors Giselle & Savannah, the team looks forward to an even more successful season next year! 


The AMC is here!  If you signed up with your math teacher to take the AMC, please come to the library at 7:30 am sharp this Wednesday.  Bring a pencil and $6 to participate! (D.Dobervich)

Registration for AP testing is open now until the end of February at the ASB office.  There will be no registrations taken after February 27th.  The cost for most of the tests is $96 each and $106 for language and music theory.  Please bring your check or cash to Ms. Moyoli in the ASB office.  Students who want to take the AP Chinese test need to register as soon as possible.  The seats are limited and filling quickly.  (Mr. Rosado)

Are you interested in signing up for The Fremont Color Guard Next Year? Want to be a vital part of the Fremont Firebird Marching Band? The Fremont Winter Guard will be hosting a clinic for possible future members on Saturday, February 28 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm in one of the Fremont gyms. If you'd like to attend, or if you have question, please contact Mr. Kelly at joseph_kelly@fuhsd.org We are also inviting incoming 8th graders that day for the clinic.

Attention Winter athletes and families:  Great action pictures of all winter teams are now available online for viewing and purchase. There is an opportunity to decrease stress and increase calm during the school day. Student Advocates Cindy Gowen and Leila Lurie will be leading sessions on mindfulness with mindfulness in action (Talking Circles) during Flex Time on Wednesdays.  To sign up, select Mindfulness from the list of teachers when you make your appointment. Now that the pool construction is done we will be parking only on staff parking spots, effective immediately. Please make sure you have your parking pass displayed at all times. (N. Ochoa)

Recycling collection will be on Wednesdays.  Rooms 1 and 6 students will collect recycling this coming Wednesday during 4th block, beginning at 9:30.  Recycle bins will need to be placed outside classrooms by 9:30, and I will send a reminder Wednesday morning. 

For those of you new to Fremont this year, students from ACT classes have been collecting recycling for several years.  We collect both paper and bottles/cans.  Bottles/cans (drinks only; no dairy) are taken to the recycle plant by Carlos and friends.  Proceeds go to FHS flower/tulip fund. 25% is retained for student/classroom needs.  Every classroom should have separate bins for paper and bottles/cans.  If not, please let us know.
